Floral Experiment 2

I experimented some more with color and shape.  As a rule, in painting, it is frowned upon to have perfectly vertical or horizontal lines.  I broke the rules a little here to see what it felt like.  It’s paper, I’m allowed (and so are you).  I think the petals that I liked the most are where I let watercolor do what watercolor wants to do.  The way the colors bleed, spread, and mix is so satisfying.

If I were to tell you a story to go along with this one, it would be about Ollie.  He is tiny.  Too tiny for you see, but he is there.  Behind the orange one.  Those are his favorite.  He comes to spend quiet mornings drinking the dew and basking in the sunlight.  Occasionally, his schedule lines up with Walter’s and they get to have a chat.

Loose watercolor floral painting a busy smattering of pink, red, yellow, and orange petalls all mish-mashed together. Stems included with a form that resembles a rosemary plant.

I paint these by hand, usually with watercolor. I love the way a good piece of art can both describe something you do know and be something you haven't encountered yet.
